Abstract
We reviewed 12 patients with internuclear ophthalmoplegia (INO), of which 2 were bilateral. The etiologies were cerebrovascular disease, hemorrhage of cavernous hemangioma, and bacterial meningitis. Their main presentig symptom was diplopia and many of them showed long tract and brainstem dysfunction signs other than INO. Brain MRI revealed peraqueductal lesions in the pontine tegmentum and most of the patients improved over 3 month period. In Korea, cerebrovascular disease is the main cause of INO even in young patients and in those with bilateral INO.
